The Year of Bon Iver

I’ve talked about Bon Iver a lot this year. First when the group’s front man Justin Vernon beautifully covered Bonnie Raitt on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and again, when their self titled² album dropped this summer. Then once more when I proposed the ultimate musical love connection between young and impressionable Justin Vernon and experienced songstress Rickie Lee Jones.  Needless to say, I’m a big fan and have been since discovering their earlier release For Emma, Forever Ago. It’s been a breakout year for the humble indie band and soon everyone will know (how to say) their name.  They’re at the top of many of the year end ‘best of’ lists and it’s likely there’s some real Grammy gold in their future. I’m not saying I was the first on the Bon Iver bandwagon, but I do know a good thing when I hear it and I had them pegged as winners pretty early on. If you haven’t checked them out yet, now would be the time. You don’t want to be the one saying, “Boney Who?” on Grammy night. From my favorite record of 2011, here’s “Towers”…
