Instead of taking the conventional path to their latest record, The Good Listeners gassed up the RV and took to the open road and documented the recording sessions on film. 12 songs in 24 days with a colorful cast of collaborators at each stop and the resulting Don’t Quit Your Daydream (how good is that title?) should not be missed. Both the record and the film are beautiful examples of the love of making music.
We got to hangout with our new friends Nathan and Clark before they took to the stage at The Midnight Ramble. No, not the Midnight Special…though that would have been cool too…they ought to bring that back. The Midnight RAMBLE where the legendary Levon Helm reigns supreme and it is every bit as happening as you might imagine. If you’re anywhere in the area, it’s well worth the pilgrimage to Woodstock – just ask the guy all the way there from Texas. And if that’s not enough name dropping for you, they’ve got one Adrian Grenier rounding out their own entourage. Oh no…you’re gonna have to watch their film for that sweet little nugget.
So hear their story first hand. They’re not just The Good Listeners, but they’re also the smart, funny and way talented musicians who are the subject of this boomitude podcast. Oh yeah…..about that background noise…..you can bet your boots that’s the sound of The Ramble just gettin’ warmed up.
